Grant Malyon, 1976 Grant Malyon

After completing school, Grant started his military training in January 1977, and joined the permanent Airforce for three years (mainly to get out of camps).

In 1980, he joined Spencer Steward & Co to do his articles whilst studying for a B Compt degree through UNISA. Two years later, he joined a company in the road construction industry.

In 1983, Grant married Justine Rowe, younger sister of Sharon Rowe.

In 1984, he was promoted and transferred down to Durban, and eventually settled on the Bluff after first staying in Illovo beach and then Amanzimtoti.

Grant and Justine have three children - Melanie in 1984, Jason 18 months later in 1985, and Cassandra in 1989.

Melanie qualified as a Somotologist and married Shaun van Rensburg in 2006. Jason is presently doing his final (fourth) year of a Bachelors in Architectural Technology, and Cassandra is in her first year of Interior Design.

Grant is still in the road construction industry and works for a small group of companies in the position of Financial Director. He is a keen rugby supporter.
