While in the travel industry, she worked with a number of different travel companies, and also did a stint in air charter at Lanseria Airport. During this time she met Rod Hering whom she married in 1987. They had a son called Richard (who turns 19 this year). She later joined the Rennies Travel Training Centre and established the Rennies Travel Training Institute. She got divorced from Rod in 1991.
That same year she left the `corporate world' and joined Stephen Renecle, an independent management consultant, and together they formed a company called Hering and Renecle. A year later, Gail established her own consultancy, The Training Focus, where she consulted to organisations on training effectiveness. She also became a sought-after facilitator and a popular conference speaker.
In 1998, Gail formed a Training, Project Management, and Outsourcing Company called Outlearning (Pty) Ltd. Outlearning is a provider of outsourced training services, and is the outsourced training department for some major companies. Outlearning also manages large learning projects. That same year she married Albert Styger and they merged their two families, adding his children - Justin (now 25) and Gary (now 30) to the fold. They had a 'laatlammetjie' in 1999 - (finally a daughter), named Jade.
Gail is involved in a number of community projects, looking at the training, development, upliftment, and empowerment of women, youth, and vulnerable children in various communities.
