Message from Paul Bowers , 1 November 2024:
Rachel and Albert legg had 7 children.

Edith married Thomas Chamberlain, who was also a builder. They did not have children and lived in Lived at Winton, Lenham Gardens Lenham Road Sutton. I do not believe they had any children.

Arthur married Nellie Beatrice Mayne and had 4 children. 1 male 3 female.

Lucy Rachel Legg married Alfred Edwin Bawtree and had 5 children.

Winifred Legg married Robr H Barber and had 7 children. My Nan Rachel Gertrude Hope was quite close with Winifred's daughter Edith Lillian Barbe and I have just renewed the connection with Edith's children Nicholas and Anne who are my mum's 2nd cousins.

Clara Nellie Legg married Victor George Harry Jacob and had 3 children, one of whom I think moved to Australia.

Hettie Phoebe Legg I don't think ever married and did live with my nan and Gertrude (Hettie's sister) for a time.

So Gertrude Legg is my great grandmother. She married my great grandfather Sidney James Hawes and had my nan Rachel Gertrude Hawes.

My nan met my grandad Reginald Hope during the war and married 2 months before the end of the war in Ghent Belgium.

They had my mum Rosemary in 1947 and my uncle Robin in 1952.

My mum met my dad in Germany while they were both serving in the forces in the 1960s, married in 1966 and had me and my two siblings.

I live and work in Oxfordshire and Berkshire and have been researching my family tree for about 2.5 years now.
